My Journey to Santiago de Compostela Part X
Today, Roberto left me to head back home. After taking him to the train station, I headed in the dark to the bridge on the Ebro and continue my journey to Najera. Shortly after exiting the city, I bumped into an Italian girl leaving an albergue and I can’t remember how but we started a conversation. I am not a man with a great inventory of pick-up lines…The fact is we became Camino Friends for the next two to three days. Her name was Líbera which means “to Set Free” in Italian.
On our way to Nájera, Líbera introduced me to Sarah, who is a Vicar from the UK. Sarah needed to find a room in Nájera for the night and I called my albergue and got her a bed. Then Sarah and I became Camino Friends. On the same day, Sarah introduced me to Tomoko who is from Japan. Tomoko and I instantly became Camino Friends and we would meet several times during the Camino and our final meeting at Fistera had a special meaning since it is like we felt (at least I) as we were Soul Mates.
On our way to Nájera, we started to cross vineyards and realized it was harvest time. Then in the evening we all had dinner together at a restaurant in town. But instead of a quiet night, Sarah and I who shared a room at the albergue could not sleep for there was a “Fiestas Patronales” party (the celebration of the Patron Saint of Nájera) only half a block from the place we were staying. The music was quite loud and went on until four o’clock in the morning. Nevertheless, Sarah and I woke up and started our Camino right after dawn!
